Majd Chourbaji is a Syrian business woman from the city of Daraya in the Damascus countryside, She holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and International Relations from Anglia Ruskin University. She has worked in entrepreneurship and project development for over fifteen years, alongside investments in education, arts, and culture.
She was awarded the U.S. Department of State's International Women of Courage Award in 2015, and the Oxfam Washington Award in 2016.

Her powerful story-being detained for seven months in 2012 as a political prisoner, enduring torture, then losing her husband who was later arrested and killed under torture in Assad regime prisons-became a source of inspiration for millions.

After her release, she dedicated herself to public service, advocating for women's rights and victims of violence, eventually becoming a business leader focused on developmental and entrepreneurial projects.

Her experience, shared in a Syrian podcast, resonated widely and garnered over a million views in less than three days.

Majd has been deeply rooted in the field of education since 2007, when she founded and managed her own private school in Daraya-years before the outbreak of the Syrian revolution.

With the onset of the conflict, her passion for education only grew stronger. Driven by this commitment, she went on to establish several private schools in Turkey, and has been the owner and director of multiple educational institutions for over lo years.

Chourbaji has played a pivotal role in reshaping societal perceptions around women's education and professional contribution. She developed and implemented programs aimed at educating girls and creating employment opportunities for women in displaced and marginalized communities.

Majd Chourbaji now oversees the management of Glory Holding International Group. Under her leadership, the group has expanded to include gold mines in Turkey and Africa, a pasta factory in Burkina Faso, and the establishment of Levant Private Schools in both Turkey and Syria.

She has also developed and managed a chain of restaurants and tourism projects in Qatar, Turkey, and Canada, and launched a food company in Saudi Arabia. In Syria, the group is active in high-rise real estate development and manages Top Kapi Contracting, along with luxury hotels in Damascus such as Talisman and The Art House.
